What are the types of raw materials used in the pharmaceutical industry?

The pharmaceutical industry will use hundreds of different chemicals and compounds in the production process, is one of the largest branches of the chemical industry, Changzhou Wisdomdrug intermediates summarizes some commonly used pharmaceutical raw materials and basic uses.

Materials necessary for the manufacture of drugs, including sterile apis, packaging and additives. Sterile apis refer to active ingredients such as drugs and intermediates, excipients and diluents. Packaging refers to a sterilization box with a certain specification, bag or pipe. Auxiliaries include lubricants such as magnesium stearate or talc powder.

The first three types of raw materials can be divided into medicinal chemicals and non-medicinal chemicals according to their functions.

Excipients are divided into three types: diluent, filler and disintegrant. The first two are involved in the production process, but are not pharmaceutical ingredients and are not harmful. Disintegrants help tablets or capsules break down during digestion, making them easier for the body to absorb.

The lubricant helps to reduce the friction between the tablets and the manufacturing equipment to avoid the loss caused by cracking. Coating agents protect the drug from water loss, oxidation, or other environmental degradation, and some act as preservatives to extend shelf life.

Some drugs are produced in a liquid environment, but the final product is a solid, which requires the assistance of a solvent, which is usually used as a carrier in the manufacturing process to facilitate processing.
